Team Bios
Dr. Louis Scotti has been in practice for 42 years. He resides in Nesconset with
his lovely wife Mary where he conducts his practice of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.
They have been married for 39 years, and have 2 sons, Steven and Joseph and 3
wonderful grandchildren. He is on staff at Saint Catherine of Siena in Smithtown. He is
Board Certified in Podiatric Medicine. He is a past Vice-President of the Suffolk County
Podiatric Medical Association and has coordinated numerous medical seminars for both the Hospital and the Podiatry Association. In 2008, he took on a managerial role due to spinal surgery. He oversees all aspects of the practice on a daily basis.
He is very involved in the Boy Scout program in Suffolk County. He is the
committee chairman for troop 272 based at St Joseph’s in Ronkonkoma. He is currently
the President of the Suffolk County Council overseeing the scouting program for 5000
youth and 3000 adult volunteers. He also gives career talks to high school students
through the Learning for Life Program. He has been honored by his unit with a Spark
Plug Award and by Trailblazer District with the District Award of Merit. Suffolk County
Council honored him with their highest volunteer recognition, the Silver Beaver Award.
Louis is a member of the Ronkonkoma Rotary since 1986. He has been very
active during his 39-year tenure. He held various offices and responsibilities including
president in 1990-1991. He has been involved in the Ronkonkoma Rotary’s major
fundraiser, the Navy SEAL LT Michael Murphy Run Around the Lake, since his
induction into the club in 1986. He has served as chairman or co-director of the event for
the last thirty years, raising over $1,000,000 for such worthy causes as the Gift of Life
Program, Association for Mental Health and Wellness, and numerous Veteran’s Causes
here on Long Island.
In 1988 he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow, an award given to signify a
significant donation in his name to the Rotary Foundation. He has since been so honored
six additional times. He was also named the Ronkonkoma Rotary’s Heart and Soul award
recipient in 2001.
Lou was honored by the Mac Arthur Business Alliance in 2009 for his
Volunteerism and Outstanding Community Service with the Jerry Brewi Award. He has
also been active in the Knights of Columbus at St. Regis Council in Ronkonkoma for
over 10 years where he is a Fourth Degree Knight.
Dr. Yury Gaydar is a foot and ankle surgeon with an extensive training and experience in treating various conditions of the foot and ankle. His expertise includes diabetic foot care, wound care, trauma and fracture management, limb salvage, sports medicine, podiatric dermatology, laser therapy, and podiatric surgery.
Dr. Gaydar earned his podiatric medical doctorate degree at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and continued his medical education at Richmond University Medical Center Podiatric Forefoot and Rearfoot Residency Program in Staten Island, NY. He has an advanced training in minimally invasive and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery achieved in the Orthopedic Department of the Icahn School of Medicine of Mount Sinai.
He is actively seeking education on the latest advances in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in order to better serve and care for all patients. Given his rigorous medical training, Dr. Gaydar has a unique combination of experiences that allow for a comprehensive clinical evaluation to customize treatments around each individual patient. Dr Gaydar is passionate about cooking and he is a voracious reader. Also, he enjoys international traveling and spending time with his family.
JOAN LOCKER-THURING
I've worked in a Podiatry office for over 20 years. I started as a part timer in a friend's office. I had recently retired from the IT world but needed to support my passion. Hence the part time job. I worked there for 18 years till he retired. I continued to work in podiatry as I was experienced. My passion is raising, showing (in multiple venues) and breeding newfoundland dogs. They are my family.
